Living as a citizen and a Christian

We are often lifted to excitement and pride when we see the U.S. flag and hear the national anthem. I enjoy these times.

But there are time when I wonder about my commitment to my country and my commitment to Jesus Christ. How much can we, should we combine the two?

At the time of the fall of Rome in A.D. 410 the Latin Christians were devastated because the "eternal city" had fallen. I wonder how much they saw the connection between the city and their faith. Augustine was prompted to write "The City of God" and made peace with the problem.

How much connection do we Christians put on our faith and our country. I have no problem with being patriotic but I want to keep Christ far above my patriotism.
